Weekly Anime Night Meeting Room Moved

We will be meeting in the Home Town Dairy room tonight so that, regardless of the Madden Tournament continuing in the Teen Zone, we can anime all night!

Pamapalooza August 31st GO!

 Dreading the start of a new school year?  Want to end the summer right, while simultaneously aiding a Mississippi Library that was devasted by Hurricane Katrina? 

Come to the Hurricane Katrina Benefit at the Brick Branch on Thursday, August 31 from 6:00-8:30 in the parking lot to enjoy Pamapalooza- a kick butt end of the summer festival and SAIL Appreciation party full of live entertainment (bands, a storyteller, COSPLAY) giveaways (old school comic books from the 60s & 80s), a henna station, DDR, and a photo corner!  So drop everything you’re doing and come!  You know you want to!

JA TAB Meeting Sept 5th @ 7pm!

Hey Jackson TAB Members… Don’t forget the first TAB Meeting of the soon to be schoolyear will be next Tuesday September 5th at 7pm in the Teen Zone!!

Come and enjoy the last evening of your summer break with friends at the library! Bring your ideas to kick start the new year!

Madden Tourney to be Continued

Wednesday night’s John Madden Tournament for the XBox 360, held in the Teen Zone at TR, drew 43 boys and 1 girl for a jovial competition filled with whoops and hollers! Teens chose their favorite NFL teams to play four minute games in a single elimination tournament. Their excitement attracted a large audience as you can see from the pictures below! Winners will return next week to playoff for the top honor and a copy of the game.

Barnegat Anime/Manga Meeting

 

Date: September 6, 2006

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Place: Library Meeting Room

Teens Grades 6 and up can exchange info and discuss their favorite Manga and Anime series.  Bring your own manga style drawing to give and get tips from others that appreciate Japanese animation.

Lakewood’s End of S.A.I.L. Party

Holy smokes, there are some booty-shakers in Lakewood!  The competition was fierce, songs were flowing, legs were flailing.  Truly, a wondrous site.

The party was an absolute blast, we had Bust-A-Move on the projector screen, DDR in the corner, prizes, and a gruesome contest of marshmallow stuffing… the winners crammed thirteen pillowy marshmallows into their mouths before calling it quits.  If I am to the do the contest next year, I will remember to keep the garbage cans a little closer to the contestants.

I am also happy to say that many of our S.A.I.L. volunteers have turned in applications to bring the return of TAB to the Lakewood Library. So, many thanks to those who participated and I look forward to start of many great things.

Thanks so much to all of you for making our end-of-summer party a huge success.  You all did an awesome job at SAIL Jeopardy and congrats to our “Good Noodles” Amanda and Tim.  There was not much on the rug, so thanks for that.  As Kathy said, you are a really important part of the library and we really wanted to thank you for all you did this summer.  See you at TAB!!!

Twinkie, Twinkie

 

 Saturday August 19th at 2:00pm at the Barnegat Branch Library will be a celebration of Twinkies. Hosted by the Teen Advisory Board, there will be recipe demonstrations (Twinkie Sushi) and tasty treats such as Twinkie Ice Cream to be enjoyed by all. There is also a mug exchange for coffee lovers.

Back to School Blues Night at Lakewood

How sad, the summer is coming to an end… really fast.  The days of sunshine, boardwalks, beaches and funnel cake are soon to be a fond memory of our past.  Soon enough, it’s lockers, beakers and number 2 pencils. 

So why not end the summer in style?

Join us on September 14th at 6pm for one last night of fun, games, and music before the homework kicks in and the studying gets serious.
